about
Having operated under the radar over the past few years as one of Australian electronic's best kept secrets, Melbourne's Planète (producer and musician Dion Tartaglione) returns today after a long hiatus with new single "Nightcrawler". The 7-minute odyssey showcases this unique artist's talent in creating an intelligent brand of house music, and sets the standard for what's to come.
While quiet on the release front, 2016 has been anything but slow for Planète, who rode the success of previous single "Altair" well into the new year. After doing the rounds on the Summer festival circuits that saw him play at Secret Garden, Paradise, Strawberry Fields and Melbourne’s White Night, he peaked mid-year, playing to a heaving crowd at Splendour in the Grass. Aside from his growing list of festival appearances, he's also graced the stage with the likes of Machine Drum, Com Truise, Romare, & Pantha Du Prince, quickly building a reputation for his his engaging live set-up and sprawling electronic constructions. "Nightcrawler" will be the first in a slew of new releases anticipated for the coming months, with a run of live shows already announced (or to be shared shortly) to celebrate.
This was the best album discovery of my life in YouTube suggestions. It never disappoints. And the last track.. does something I can't explain. smestvirishvili
This Bandcamp exclusive comes complete with a head-spinning background story (check the album notes) and eerie electronics. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 29, 2023
There is something ineffably beautiful about this album; the characteristic Buchla, the cover art, the more quiet tunes which seem not sad but instead cute and smart. Great for picking up again and again. tmpr
